Overview

Picky Colors is a color picker application that runs entirely on your Mac. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information of any kind. Your privacy is not just a priority — it is a guarantee.

No Data Collection

Picky Colors does not collect, store, or transmit any user data, including screen content. The app does not use analytics, tracking, cookies, or any form of telemetry. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no servers. Everything happens locally on your device. All color sampling is performed locally on the user’s device.

Screen Recording & Color Sampling

Picky Colors uses screen capture solely for its magnifier loupe feature, which allows you to precisely sample pixel colors anywhere on your screen.

• The app uses CGWindowListCreateImage to capture a very small region (approximately 7–21 pixels) around the mouse cursor. This region is displayed in a zoomed loupe overlay to assist precision color picking.
• Only the RGB color value of the pixel under the cursor is extracted. No screen images or video recordings are saved.
• The captured pixel data is used exclusively to determine the color value selected by you.
• No screen content is recorded, stored, or persisted. The captured pixel buffer exists only in memory during the active picking session and is immediately discarded.
• No screen data is transmitted or shared with any third parties. All processing occurs locally on your device.
• If screen recording permission is not granted, the app falls back to Apple's built-in NSColorSampler API.

Local-Only Operation

Picky Colors runs entirely on macOS. It does not connect to the internet, does not communicate with any external servers, and does not send or receive any data. All features, including color picking, palette management, and format conversion, operate locally on your Mac.

Third-Party Services

Picky Colors does not integrate with or use any third-party services, SDKs, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.

Local Data Storage

Picky Colors stores your saved colors and palettes locally on your Mac using on-device storage. This data never leaves your computer. There are no accounts, no authentication, no cloud sync, and no remote database. You have full control over your data at all times, and deleting the app removes all associated data from your device.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Picky Colors does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, or any other tracking technologies — neither in the app nor on this website. We do not track your behavior, usage patterns, or any other activity.

Data Security

Because Picky Colors does not collect or transmit any data, there is no personal information at risk of a data breach. The app operates within the macOS security sandbox and follows Apple's standard security practices. Your saved colors are stored locally and are protected by your system's own security measures.

Data Retention

We retain no user data whatsoever. Locally stored colors and palettes persist on your device only for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling Picky Colors removes all app data. We have no servers, backups, or archives containing any user information.

Your Rights

Under regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have rights regarding your personal data — including the right to access, delete, and port your data. Because Picky Colors does not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, delete, or transfer. You are in full control of the only data that exists: the colors and palettes stored locally on your Mac.

Children's Privacy

Because Picky Colors does not collect any data from any user, it is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. Since we do not collect any user data, we have no way to notify you directly of changes.
